Whistling Straits Wisconsin Wedding on Lake Michigan

Whistling Straits Wisconsin Wedding. Modern White Scandinavian Chapel on Lake Michigan

I never thought I’d be saying this, but Sheboygan, Wisconsin is one of my new favorite places. If you’ve talked to me since I photographed this wedding, I definitely told you about it. I’d only ever heard about this town when The Polka King of the Midwest was trying to help a mother get home to her son for Christmas (name that movie!). Sheboygan is the cutest little artsy town on Lake Michigan, the freshwater surfing capital of the world, and home to the most beautiful modern, white wedding chapel that looks like it was plucked from Iceland. If you ever get a chance to visit, do it!

Gabby and Connor love spending time on Lake Geneva, but when they researched venues in the area, everything was booked up. They stumbled upon Whistling Straits and it felt like the perfect compromise. It was something a little different, still situated on the Great Lakes and great for all the golfers in the group. Gabby and Connor had their ceremony in Straits Chapel, just a short drive down the road from the golf course, nestled quite literally in the middle of no where, with panoramic views of the lake.

Their reception was held in the Irish Barn at Whistling Straits, a cozy space with natural warmth from its stone work and wooden beams. As the sun set, the most beautiful full moon rose up over the lake. The moon holds sentimental value to Connor’s family, and his mother believed it was her late husband’s way of letting them know he was there in spirit, shining down and lighting up the night.
