Greece Destination Engagement Photos on the Island of Kythira

I had the incredible honor of being invited to capture Carissa and Ted’s wedding weekend in Greece. This pre-wedding portrait session was just the start of an amazing weekend. Exploring the charming island of Kythira with them was nothing short of breathtaking. We chased waterfalls, steep cliffs, medieval town ruins, fields filled with wild Queen Anne’s lace and white buildings covered in bright pink bougainvilleas. But why did Carissa and Ted choose Kythira? Let’s rewind a little…

Carissa and Ted met on Kythera in September 2016, when Carissa and her friend were on Kythera for the first time. They were in Kapsali, looking for a specific restaurant that was recommended. They were asking around, pointing to a piece of paper with the restaurant recommendation written in Greek. They asked the waiter at a restaurant where Ted was sitting, and while they had no luck finding the restaurant, Ted was intrigued as to what they were looking for (and what brought two American girls to the small island his family is from). After dinner, Ted was walking to his hotel and saw Carissa and her friend eating at a restaurant down the street and decided to introduce himself. After a brief conversation, Ted offered to be their personal tour guide. After spending the next 4 days on Kythera together, Carissa and Ted picked up where they left off in New York when they returned from their travels. And as they say, the rest is history.
